Bike Carriers & Hitch Receivers

Transporting your bike can be a hassle, but it doesn’t have to be. We carry a wide selection of hitch receivers and bike carriers. We can also help install hitch receivers and bike carriers on most vehicles. Please read on to learn more about the types of back racks and installation services we offer.

Types of Bike Racks

At West Trails Bicycles, you’ll find bike racks for cars, SUVs, trucks, vans, and RVs. No matter what type of vehicle you’re using to transport your bike(s), we can set you up with a reliable bike rack.

We carry a range of trunk-mount and hitch-mount bike racks, including hanging bike racks with extended arms to rest your bike(s) on, platform bike racks that allow you to stand your bike(s) upright, vertical bike racks that allow you to hang bike(s) vertically, and rooftop bike carriers that mount to the top of your vehicle.

By far, our most popular bike carrier is the Swagman XTC-2. It’s versatile, light-weight, easy-to-use (requires less lifting), and is relatively inexpensive. Best of all, we sell them fully assembled, and take extra steps in the assembly process to make them work better and last longer than the typical self-assembled bicycle carriers that you buy online.

If you’re transporting an e-bike or any other heavier bicycle, we carry a wide selection of e-bike-rated carriers. Some of these carriers come with extendable ramps and/or other features that allow you to tilt, swing, raise, and lower the bike rack for easy loading.

Looking to carry more than four bikes at a time, but don’t own a pick-up truck? We recommend you avoid purchasing a hanging bicycle rack unless you plan to use it rarely. We find the process of racking and un-racking your bikes will be frustrating enough that you won’t want to use it. Instead of purchasing that hanging bike rack, stop by West Trails Bicycles and explore some alternatives with us.

Bike Carrier & Hitch Receiver Installation

We’re able to install various types of bike carriers on most vehicles. While we’re happy to install any type of bike carrier on your vehicle, if you’re going to be carrying more than one bike, we recommend opting for a hitch-mounted bike rack. We find that trunk-mount bike racks can be generally frustrating to use – especially when you’re carrying more than one bike. Platform-style bike racks tend to be the easiest to use, however they only come with a hitch-style mount.

The good news is that we can install hitch receivers (the part that hitch-mount bike carriers attach to) on most vehicles. If your bike carrier has built-in tail lights to signal stops and turns, we can also install the auxiliary power plugs to make those tail lights work.
